Conferences have been held annually since 2002 at differing Spinal Cord Injury Centres in the U.K. and Ireland
Being multidisciplinary the topics have ranged from Iron lung ventilation through non-invasive ventilation to discharge planning, with invited experts from outside the realm of spinal injuries as well as presentations from within our group. Attendee numbers grow with each meeting. A prize is awarded for best presentation
Like the majority of educational meetings you get as much out of chatting to other delegates the night before than you learn at the meeting itself.
The next business meeting will be held on the 12th October 2018 at the SIA centre in Milton Keynes. Representatives from all units are welcome. There is no restriction on who can attend the meeting. Contact Jacqui Ross for more information.
On the Agenda:
- Cough Assist Machines – criteria for requesting equipment for discharge
- SAVe (Sheffield Assisted Ventilation Scale – can we link this to community care needs ?
- Respiratory Muscle Training
- Planning the next conference – to be hosted by Glasgow
